What is the most important thing to carry with you all the time?
People expect you to say a phone, wallet or keys. The obvious stuff, the things you pat your pockets for before leaving the house. But those are just objects, tools you use to get through the day. They can be lost, replaced or stolen.
What I am talking about is something you carry inside you, something that cannot be taken unless you give it up willingly, your principles and your integrity.
For me, that is my Islam. It is my compass, the thing that shapes how I see the world, how I treat people, and how I hold myself accountable. It is the voice that reminds me to choose the harder right over the easier wrong. It is the anchor that keeps me steady when life feels like it is pulling me in every direction.
I try my best to live it every day. I fail, often. And that is the part people do not always talk about, the falling. We all do it. Sometimes quietly, sometimes in ways everyone can see. The real test is not whether you fall, it is whether you find the strength to stand back up, dust yourself off, and keep going. That is where faith comes in.
Carrying your principles means you are not blown around by every new trend, temptation or pressure. It means there are lines you will not cross, no matter how much it costs you. It means you answer to something higher than public opinion or personal gain.
Without it, you can be rich, respected and surrounded by people, but still lost. Because if you do not know who you are and what you stand for, you will bend into whatever shape the world demands of you. And once you give away that core part of yourself, getting it back is not always possible.
So yes, I will carry my phone. I will carry my keys. But above all, I will carry my faith, my principles, and the resolve to get back up when I fail. Because those are the things that keep me walking in the right direction, no matter how many times I stumble.
Because without them, you are not carrying yourself, you are just carrying an empty shell.
