What relationships have a positive impact on you?
When I think about the relationships that have had the most positive impact on my life, the answer is simple, my family. Every bond I’ve had with them has taught me something valuable, and those lessons have shaped who I am today.
My Dad A Lesson in Resilience
My father may no longer be with us, but his influence is with me every single day. He showed me that life isn’t easy—there are struggles, and no one’s handing out shortcuts. But he also taught me the importance of perseverance. When life knocks you down, you get back up and keep going.
My Mum The Humble Anchor
My mum has always been my grounding force. She taught me the value of humility and made sure I didn’t let pride get the better of me. Trust me, if I ever got a bit too full of myself, she’d bring me back to earth faster than I could blink! And honestly, that’s a lesson I’m grateful for.
My Wife Responsibility and Growth
Marrying my wife was the moment I had to grow up. She taught me what it means to be responsible—not just for myself, but for her and our family. Through her, I’ve learned about sacrifice, partnership, and the joy that comes from working together to build a life.
My Son Patience and Independence
Watching my son grow into his own person has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. He’s taught me patience, especially when I’ve had to let him make his own decisions—even when I wanted to guide him differently. Letting go and trusting him to be his own man hasn’t been easy, but it’s been worth it.
My Eldest Daughter Quick Reconciliation
My eldest daughter is a mirror of my personality. It’s like looking at a younger version of myself, which is probably why we butt heads sometimes. But she’s taught me something important: let go of arguments as quickly as they start. There’s no point holding onto them when love and understanding always win.
My Youngest Daughter Being Present
My little one taught me how to truly be a dad. She made me realise that fatherhood isn’t just about providing; it’s about being there, experiencing the little moments, and soaking up the joy that comes with them.
My Brother-in-Laws Wisdom and Faith
I’m blessed with two amazing brothers-in-law. My older one is like a big brother to me. He’s wise, calm, and always straight from the heart. He’s told me off plenty of times, but it’s always been for my good. Without his guidance, I’m not sure I’d be the man I am today.
My younger brother-in-law, on the other hand, brought me closer to my faith. His words helped me find my way back to Islam, and that’s a debt I can never repay.
My Cousins Lifelong Teachers
My cousins in London—Mezo Bhai, Suto Bhai, Boro Affa, Mezo Affa, and Suto Affa—are like my older siblings. Growing up, they took care of me, taught me so much, and played a huge role in who I became. Their love and support are something I’ll always treasure.
My Work Family Mentors and Stability
I can’t leave out my managers at work, who’ve had a massive impact on my life. One of them mentored me, gave me patience when I needed it, and helped me grow professionally. Another gave me opportunities that let me provide for my family and hold my head high. Their faith in me helped steady not just my career but my entire life.
Why My Circle Matters
Every single one of these relationships has left a positive mark on me. If you’re in my circle, you’re there because you’ve earned my trust and respect. If you’re not, it’s not personal—I just don’t have the energy or time to give more of myself, especially with my health being what it is these days.
Grateful for the Lessons
I could go on and on about the people who’ve shaped me, but the truth is, I’m just grateful for all of them. Whether it’s family, friends, or mentors, they’ve all played a role in helping me grow, overcome, and thrive.
And for that, I thank them—from the bottom of my heart.
