The Art of Learning Photography and Storytelling

What skill would you like to learn?

As I sit down to reflect on the skills I want to improve, two areas immediately come to mind—photography, particularly film photography, and storytelling through writing. Both are important to how I express myself, and each brings its own set of challenges that push me to grow, learn, and refine my skills.

Film photography, in particular, holds a special place in my heart. There’s something that forces me to be in the moment. Unlike digital, where the camera often does the heavy lifting, film photography feels like an extension of myself. Every shot requires intention, from setting the exposure to manually focusing, and there’s no instant gratification. That’s the beauty of it—it’s more about me, my vision, my eye, and less about the camera itself. It makes me think about the craft in a way that digital photography sometimes doesn’t. Each frame is precious, each shot more deliberate. This analog process allows me to focus on the essence of photography, where every image tells a story before it’s even developed.

Writing, especially storytelling, is another skill I’m dedicated to refining. It’s the whole reason I started this blog in the first place. Writing allows me to weave narratives, to build worlds with nothing but words, and to explore emotions and ideas that would otherwise stay hidden in the corners of my mind. It’s deeply personal but also something I hope resonates with those who read it.

I’m not here to sell anything or bombard you with ads that ruin the experience. This space is about sharing my journey, my narratives, whether in the form of a photograph, a poem, or a story. I want my readers to enjoy the simplicity of it, to connect with my work in a way that feels meaningful—whether they’re on a lunch break in Mumbai, relaxing under a tree in London, or sitting on a bench in New York.

So why these two skills? Because they represent the purest form of creativity for me. They teach me to express my perspective, and hopefully, inspire others along the way. Whether it’s capturing a moment on film or writing a story that lingers in someone’s mind long after they’ve read it, these are the skills I’m dedicated to improving.

And I hope, somewhere along the way, you’ll find something here that speaks to you too.
