What Is My Favourite Drink?

What is your favorite drink?

If you had asked me this question a decade ago, my answer would have been simple, tea and coffee. Even now, they remain staples in my daily routine. There’s something about a well-brewed cup of tea, especially Bangladeshi-style, that feels like home. The strong, spiced aroma, the perfect blend of sweetness and depth—it’s not just a drink, it’s a moment of peace.

Coffee, on the other hand, has always been about balance. I don’t go for the extremes—no bitter espresso shots, no overly sweet, syrupy creations. Just a medium-strength brew with a splash of milk, enough to wake me up and keep me grounded.

But as I grow older, I find myself reaching for something far simpler: water. Not just any water—mineral water. There’s something about its purity, the way it actually quenches thirst rather than just masking it. Tea and coffee may be comforting, but when it comes to real hydration, nothing beats a cold glass of water. Maybe it’s an age thing. Or maybe, after years of indulging in different flavors, I’ve come to appreciate the essence of what actually refreshes the body.

That said, celebrations still call for something special. Mango lassi or a thick milkshake—rich, indulgent, and nostalgic. These drinks remind me of Eid gatherings, family feasts, and the carefree moments of childhood. A mango lassi, made right, has that perfect mix of sweetness and tang, smooth but not too heavy. A milkshake, especially vanilla or chocolate, carries its own sense of occasion—something to be enjoyed rather than just consumed.

I used to enjoy cola, like most people. But let’s just say a certain brand has turned idiotic, and I find myself looking elsewhere. There are alternatives, but none quite feel the same. Maybe it’s for the best. Cola was never about quenching thirst anyway—it was just habit.

So, what’s my favourite drink? It depends. Tea for comfort. Coffee for clarity. Water for survival. And on the best of days, something a little celebratory.
