How are you creative?
When I think about creativity, I don’t picture myself standing in front of an easel painting some grand masterpiece. For me, creativity is something much simpler but just as heartfelt—it’s in the way I think, solve problems, and connect with the world around me. It’s not always about making something perfect; it’s about making something meaningful.
Writing, My Anchor
Writing has always been my way of organising chaos. When my thoughts are messy, putting them into words feels like unravelling a knot. It’s not just about telling a story or explaining an idea—it’s about finding clarity for myself and offering something valuable to others.
On my blog, The Narratives, I’m not trying to impress anyone; I’m just sharing what’s on my mind, hoping it resonates. Whether I’m diving into philosophy, technology, or something personal, it’s always from a place of honesty. I think that’s why it works—because it’s me, unfiltered.
Photography, Seeing What’s Hidden
Photography is another creative outlet, but it’s not about flashy edits or the latest gear. For me, it’s about the small things—light streaming through a window, a quiet street, or the way the world looks just before the sun sets.
When I’m out with my camera, it feels like I’m seeing life differently, noticing what most people might walk past. It’s a chance to step back and appreciate the beauty in the everyday. And honestly? Sometimes, it’s just nice to slow down and see the world through a lens instead of rushing through it.
Cooking, My Little Experiment
Cooking is one of those things that I’ve grown into. When I was younger, I’d burn things or over-season dishes, but now it’s become something I actually enjoy. It’s not just about feeding the family—it’s about experimenting, finding the right balance, and, let’s be honest, getting it wrong sometimes.
The funny thing is, cooking has taught me patience. It’s a process where you can’t rush to the result—you’ve got to build flavours, taste as you go, and trust that it’ll all come together. It reminds me of life in a way.
Creativity in the Everyday
But creativity isn’t just in writing, photography, or cooking. It’s in the way I handle challenges at work, the way I interact with my kids, and even in those silly moments where I make up songs or shout random things at my cat, Ginger, just to make everyone laugh.
It’s about finding a little joy in the mundane and turning it into something that feels alive. For me, creativity is less about what you create and more about how you approach life.
Why It Matters to Me
The world can be repetitive, predictable even. Creativity is my way of breaking out of that, of keeping things interesting. It’s how I process what’s happening around me, how I grow, and how I stay grounded.
So, how am I creative? In the way I live. It’s not about being an artist or a poet; it’s about finding meaning in what I do every day. Creativity isn’t some lofty thing—it’s right here, in the little moments.
