A Year of Change, Growth, and Gratitude

What positive events have taken place in your life over the past year?

As I reflect on the past year, I find myself amazed at the whirlwind of events that have unfolded—some life-changing, some deeply personal, and others exciting. It’s been a year of hard work, cherished moments, and unexpected victories, all of which have left me feeling grateful and inspired.

Fixing the Family Home in Bangladesh

For years, our family house in Bangladesh stood as a symbol of history and belonging, but it had been in dire need of care. This year, we finally tackled it—fresh paint, deep cleaning, and a lot of love breathed new life into it. Seeing the house restored to its former glory was incredibly fulfilling, not just for me but for the whole family.

Starting My Blog

Launching my blog, The Narratives, was a dream come true. It’s become a creative outlet for my thoughts, stories, and ideas, and I’ve been overwhelmed by the positive response from readers. Writing has always been a passion, and seeing it take shape on a platform I built myself has been one of the most rewarding experiences of the year.

Big Milestones for My Children

This year marked significant steps for my youngest and middle children. My youngest began secondary school, navigating the exciting but challenging world of growing up, while my middle one started college, taking their first steps into the world of independence and self-discovery. Watching them grow into their own has been a privilege.

Charity Projects in Bangladesh

Giving back has always been a priority, and this year, I was blessed to work on several charity projects in Bangladesh. Whether it was helping the sick, supporting the poor, or caring for the elderly, each initiative brought its own set of challenges and rewards. Knowing that we were able to make even a small difference felt truly humbling.

Running in the UK General Election

This one still feels surreal. I ran as a Green Party candidate for North East Hampshire in the UK general election! From appearing on the radio to speaking at a hustings in front of 250 people, it was a rollercoaster of an experience. While I didn’t win, the chance to represent my values and be part of the democratic process was something I’ll always cherish.

Writing for S2J News and the Green Party Magazine

Another highlight was having my articles published in S2J News and the Green Party Magazine—one of which even made the front page! Seeing my words in print, reaching readers far and wide, was an amazing feeling and has motivated me to keep writing.

Political Change in Bangladesh

On a more global note, I watched Sheikh Hasina’s reign in Bangladesh come to an end. Her departure marked the close of a controversial chapter in the country’s history, and while the future remains uncertain, it was a significant moment for many of us who had long hoped for change.

Celebrations and Family Joy

This year also brought personal joys. One of my cousins got married, and two others welcomed beautiful babies into the world. Family occasions like these remind me of the blessings of togetherness and the importance of celebrating life’s milestones.

Manchester United’s FA Cup Victory

As a lifelong Manchester United fan, I couldn’t leave this out. Winning the FA Cup in spectacular fashion was the cherry on top of a brilliant year. Seeing the team lift that trophy brought a smile to my face that lasted for weeks!

Becoming a Homeowner

And finally, a personal milestone I’m especially proud of—I bought my flat and officially stepped onto the housing ladder. It’s a step I’d long hoped to take, and it feels incredible to call a place my own.

Looking Ahead

As I look to the year ahead, my heart is full of gratitude and hope. Each of these moments, big and small, has shaped me in some way, and I’m eager to see what’s next, Insha’Allah.

Here’s to another year of growth, success, and making a difference—both for myself and for others Insha’Allah. Thank you for being part of this journey.
