What are your feelings about eating meat?
When it comes to food, especially the topic of eating meat, opinions can stir up quite the conversation. For me, it’s simple—I enjoy eating meat, but with a conscious approach. I believe in ensuring that the meat I consume is ethically sourced and prepared in the halal way. This isn’t just about ticking a box for religious observance; it’s about respecting the life of the animal and the process behind what ends up on my plate.
That said, I’m mindful of how much meat I eat. Red meat makes an appearance on my menu maybe twice a month, and chicken perhaps once or twice a week. For me, it’s about balance—enjoying the flavours of a well-cooked meal without tipping into overindulgence.
Now, let’s talk about choice. I’ve got nothing but respect for vegetarians, pescatarians, or vegans. Whether someone chooses to eat meat or abstain from it altogether, it’s their decision to make, and it shouldn’t be driven by peer pressure or societal trends. Food is deeply personal, often tied to culture, values, and upbringing. So, I say, live and let live.
In a world where there’s often too much judgement about how others eat, it’s better to step back and just appreciate the diversity of choices out there. Whether it’s a sizzling steak, a hearty veggie stew, or a beautifully seasoned plate of fish, food is something that connects us all.
For me, eating meat is part of my life, but it’s not everything. What matters more is the thought and intention behind our choices, and respecting the choices of others.
