What podcasts are you listening to?
I don’t really dive into podcasts regularly – I’ll admit, it’s just not my go-to for entertainment. But when I do, it’s all about two things: football and comedy. There’s something about tuning into a familiar voice talking about the beautiful game or cracking jokes that makes it feel a bit like being back with old friends.
One of my favourites at the moment is Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt’s new podcast, Football’s Greatest. For anyone who knows me, you’ll understand why this one has a spot in my lineup. Hearing these two legends break down classic matches, player stories, and the changing face of football is like being a fly on the wall in the dressing room. Then there’s The Overlap, with Gary Neville, Roy Keane, and the crew, which is another one I can’t miss when I’m in the mood. They bring that no-nonsense football talk, unfiltered opinions, and a real sense of what goes on behind the scenes in the sport. It’s like having a conversation with mates who know exactly what they’re talking about – only, of course, they’re legends of the game themselves!
When I’m after a laugh, though, nothing beats Paul Chowdhry on The PudCast. His humour about growing up in multicultural Britain resonates deeply with me. It’s that blend of British sarcasm and subtle truths about identity that hits home. Then there’s Mo Gilligan and Jamali Maddix, who bring their own unique comedy style that feels all too familiar. They share that journey of trying to fit in, growing up with this double-layered identity, and navigating the subcultures of Britain – stories that are both hilarious and relatable.
So, while podcasts aren’t exactly my daily routine, I’ve got my small selection that hits the right notes for me: football legends, comedy, and a touch of nostalgia.
