The OCD You Didn’t Know About (And Some Other Surprises)

What’s something most people don’t know about you?

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you’ve probably gotten used to my musings on charity, family, and the joys of life—but today, I thought I’d let you in on something a little more personal. Something most people don’t know about me: I have OCD. But, it’s not the typical “everything needs to be spotless” kind of OCD you might expect. No, mine is more of an organisational obsession.

Everything in my life needs to be planned—trips, work, schedules—you name it. I need to know everything is in place, ready to go when I need it. Imagine a filing cabinet in my head, neatly labelled and ready for action. If that order gets disturbed, if something’s not where it should be? I get annoyed. And trust me, if you don’t notice my frustration, you’ll definitely notice when I snap. I can get angry, really angry, and I’m not proud of it. In those moments, I’ve been known to say things I deeply regret later—things that can cut deep, things that aren’t really me.

Now, before you start picturing me as the Hulk, I’ll say this: it’s much better these days. I’ve got my faith, and medication, keeping me in check. My anger used to be a regular occurrence, but now? I have better control. Still, it’s something that’s part of who I am. It’s a work in progress, and I’m happy with that—warts and all.

You’ve probably read the more polished side of me in past posts. I know, everyone loves to present the best version of themselves, but it’s better to keep it real. If you’re here, reading, you deserve the full story, not just the glossy highlights.

And speaking of things you might not know, here’s a fun fact: did you know I once stood as a candidate in the UK General Election? Yep, you can Google it. I ran for the Green Party in North East Hampshire. If you search “Mohamed Miah politician,” you’ll see it still pops up. Will I run again? Maybe. Even if I never win, it’s not about that. It’s about the message—tax the rich, help the poor, protect the vulnerable. That’s something I stand by, and it’s why the Green Party resonates with me.

So, now you know. Behind the organised chaos of my life, the occasional temper flare, and my unexpected political endeavours, I’m just trying to stay true to myself and keep things in order—my way.
