If Money Didn’t Matter

List three jobs you’d consider pursuing if money didn’t matter.

Ever since I was young, creativity has been in my blood. I love thinking deeply, critically, and expressing myself through various forms of art, but let’s face it—creativity doesn’t always pay the bills. As much as I love immersing myself in writing and photography, there’s the reality of life to consider. I’ve been working since I was 14, doing what needed to be done to help my family because we didn’t come from a place of luxury. That upbringing taught me resilience and the value of hard work, traits I carried into adulthood when I got married at 21 and started my own family.

Now, having worked non-stop to provide for my family, I sometimes reflect on what I would do if money wasn’t a factor. If I could wake up tomorrow and do whatever I wanted, not because I had to, but because I truly loved it, here’s what I’d choose.

1. Writing Novels: Finishing “I Wish I Could”

First on the list would be writing novels. I’ve always had a passion for storytelling, and I’m working on a novel right now titled “I Wish I Could”. It’s a project that I’m deeply invested in, but like many things in life, time is limited. There’s always something else demanding my attention, whether it’s work or family. But if money wasn’t an issue, I’d pour all my energy into finishing it. There’s a certain satisfaction that comes with creating worlds, building characters, and weaving narratives that readers can get lost in. It’s more than a hobby—it’s a calling.

2. Photography: Telling Stories Through Lenses

Photography is another love of mine. There’s something profound about capturing moments—small slices of life that tell a story without the need for words. I’ve always been fascinated by the way a single image can evoke emotions, spark memories, or make someone see the world in a new way. If I didn’t have to worry about income, I’d spend my days roaming with a camera, capturing the beauty in everyday life. On my website, www.the-narratives.com, I’ve already started sharing my photography, alongside poems and articles. But I’d love to dive deeper, experiment more, and travel to new places to capture stories through my lens.

3. Studying Religion and Philosophy: Searching for Deeper Meaning

Last but not least, I’d pursue my interest in religion and philosophy. I’ve always enjoyed thinking critically and asking the deeper questions in life. There’s something endlessly intriguing about understanding different beliefs, exploring spirituality, and pondering the bigger picture of human existence. If time and money allowed, I’d dedicate myself to studying these subjects more formally, perhaps even teaching or writing about them.

Balancing Creativity and Reality

Of course, while these dreams are appealing, life isn’t as simple as chasing after passions. My reality is that I have a family to provide for, and they are everything to me. I’ve been blessed with a beautiful family, and my interactions with them fuel my happiness and purpose in life. Working hard has always been part of my journey, and it’s something I take pride in. But creating my website, The Narratives, has allowed me to indulge in my creative side—to write, tell stories, and share my photography with the world. It’s my way of keeping that creative spark alive, even when the day-to-day responsibilities take priority.

While these three pursuits—writing, photography, and studying religion and philosophy—may not be my primary job right now, they remain deeply rooted in my heart. They remind me that no matter what happens, there’s always room for creativity, for deep thinking, and for growth. Maybe one day, I’ll find the perfect balance. But for now, I’m grateful for the life I have, and I’ll keep finding time for the things I love.
