What could you do more of?
In life, we often ask ourselves, “What could I do more of?” For me, it’s become clear: more exercise, more walking, and more time spent behind the lens of my camera. There’s something beautifully simple yet powerful in the act of walking—a form of exercise that’s as ancient as time, and yet in our busy digital world, it’s something many of us don’t do enough of.
For the past two years, my health hasn’t been at its peak. I’ve struggled with staying active, finding myself battling both physical and mental barriers. Yet, I know that the key to overcoming this challenge is to keep moving, to keep trying. Walking offers me a chance to strengthen my body, but more than that, it provides an escape—a moment to clear the mind, breathe in fresh air, and let go of the day’s stresses.
But there’s another layer to my walks that brings me even more joy: my camera. As a lover of photography, there’s a certain thrill in the unknown—the potential of capturing an unexpected shot that tells a story, reveals beauty, or sparks creativity. Combining walking with photography gives my exercise a dual purpose. It’s not just about burning calories or boosting heart health; it’s about being present in the moment, seeing the world through a lens, and appreciating the little things that often go unnoticed.
I’ll admit, the struggle is real. There are days when the thought of stepping outside feels like climbing a mountain. But what’s important is persistence. Each step I take, each photo I snap, is a small victory. Whether it’s a shadow falling perfectly on a quiet street or the vibrant colors of an autumn tree, every walk becomes an opportunity to rediscover the world around me—and in turn, rediscover a part of myself.
The journey of regaining health and balance is ongoing. I may not have all the answers, but I do know that every effort counts. I’ll continue to walk, continue to explore, and continue to capture life’s fleeting moments, no matter how tough the path may get.
So, what could you do more of? For me, it’s walking and photography—an exercise for both body and soul.
